Social network simulation API
Backend for a social network POC replicating the features of X (formerly Twitter), with user and post management.
Context
This project was built at EPITA, in a team of 13 students, over a month and a half. The goal was to build a backend for a social network POC replicating the features of X (formerly Twitter).
Architecture
We built a microservices architecture to address load-related concerns, based on Quarkus, a modern and performant Java framework. We used MongoDB for user and post data, Neo4j for relationships between users, ElasticSearch for content search, Redis for async inter-service communication, and Kubernetes for deployment and container orchestration.
Contributions & Results
On this project, I contributed to designing and implementing this backend. We set up unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and prevent regressions. The main challenge was coordinating work across a 13-person team, which required strong communication and rigorous organization.
